Im back from vacations and I brought a nice review back. When we bought our car 5 weeks ago we also bought a new car radio. I thought it was a car radio, insted it is more kind of a car entertainment system. First I tell you about the design, than some features it has (my friend helped me with the technical features) and the last point is the operation we tested the last 5 weeks. Design The design is awesome. It is black but has these blue light around the two buttons on the side and above and below the display. As blue light is told to be relaxing, I love the blue light while driving at night. The faceplate can be released. With the radio comes a fabric bag for the faceplate, so you may carry it around, so nobody likes to stole your car radio, because the important part (control field) is in your bag. The disc slot is situated, like in the most car CD players, above the display. The radio has a size of 7-3/16 x 2-1/16 x 6-1/18 inch and weights 3.1 lbs. Technical features First of all I list some technical data. Then I show you what possibilities this great car radio/ CD offers. general Technical data operation voltage: 14.4 V (10.5 – 16 V allowable) max. current consuption: 10 A technical data audio max. output power: 50 W x 4 full bandwidth power: 22 W x 4 tone action: bass: 100 Hz ± 8 dB middle: 1 kHz ± 8 dB treble: 10 kHz ± 8 dB technical data USB USB standard: USB 1.1/ 2.0 (full speed) file system: FAT 16/ 32 MP3 decode: compliant with MPEG-1/2 Audio Layer-3 WMA decode: compliant with Windows Media Audio AAC decode: AAC-LC „.m4a“ files technical data CD player laser diode: GaAIAs digital filter (D/A): 8 times over sampling D/ A converter: 24 bit spindle speed. 500 – 200 rpm (CLV) cdecode: same decodes like USB technical data Bluetooth technology: Bluetooth 1.2 certified frequenzy: 2.402 – 2.480 Ghz output power: + 4 dBm (max), 0 dBm (ave), power class 2 max. communication: line of sight approx. 32.8 ft profiles: HFP, HSP, OPP, PBAP, SYNC, SPP, A2DP, AVRCP (hands free, headset, object push, phonebook access, syncronization, serial port, advanced audio distribution and audio/ video remote control) turner AM Frequency range: 530 kHz – 1700 kHz usable sensitivity: 28 dBμ FM Frequency range: 87.9 MHz – 107.9 MHz usable sensitivity: 9.3 dBf stereo separation: 40 dB So as you can see on the technical data this car radio isnt anymore just a car radio. You have the opportunity to connect your ipod, your mp3-player or another hard disk to play music. The display has 3 lines to show titel of a track, radio news and some other features. The Bluetooth section offers the opportunity to read SMS via the display or make a call. You may also switch via mobile phone and handsfree set (a small microphone is provided), as well as you choose your calling partner via talking to your radio (voice dialing). You can add 5 mobile phones. You wont need to look at your mobile phone anymore (which is quite dangerous while driving), the charge of battery is displayed, as well as the signal strength. Operation We nearly tested every funtion And we can say this car entertaiment system is great! We also tried the bluetooth range which was given with 32.8 ft. So we put the mobile phone in the trunk of the car (which is approximately 10 ft away from the radio) and made a call, and the quality is great, the transmission didnt show any cracks or other annoying thing. There is a remote control coming with the radio, which offers the rear seat people (like our kids) to choose the music. The use of the buttons is simple. One is to regulate the volume the other one is the function button. You can turn it to switch between the menupoint and press it to select one. The menu is well structured, so it is easy to find the right menu point. Hope it helps to choose the right radio. We love our new kenwood. Oh I nearly forgot, we paid $ 269, as it just came out when we bought it. Perhaps the price allready felt below $260. |
