Another Tom Cruise DVD. This has always been a favorite to watch even when the film was on VHS in 1993. High society type tycoons search for a young smart educated to join the ranks but this firm will use tactics to keep its employees close at hand. And when those employees wise up and try to leave they end up in the east river so to speak. Cork screw twists throughout movie/film keeps your interest and adventure and action is low-key but still you wonder what is going to happen next. Electric performances by all actors/actress and even the FBI is included in this films truth which proves to be deadly enough when a handful of employees from the privious past get murdered by the security company who is hired by The Firm. Mitch McDeere with very ambitious intentions finds his Harvard Law degree will have no match with a small Memphis Firm. The Firm has been a best seller in the theater and on VHS and now DVD. Great DVD action and the sound was excellent. ACTORS / DIRECTORS / WRITERS / PRODUCERS Actors: Tom Cruise, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Gene Hackman, Hal Holbrook, Terry Kinney Directors: Sydney Pollack Producers: John Davis, Lindsay Doran, Michael Hausman Writers: David Rabe, David Rayfiel, John Grisham, Robert Towne My DVD copy was Widescreen I think it was Anamophic. You get Closed Caption on this DVD "CC". ((2.0 Surround Sound)) was used on DVD. NTSC Region 1 for Canada and USA only. English & French languages on the DVD as well. 154 minutes run time on DVD. Color picture. This DVD was release in 2005 on Paramount Home Video. Investigation work from Mitch will unravel a very secret within the firm on hours charged to its clients but this also includes a mob organization which ends up conflicting enough. Mitch and his wife Abby have a fallen out when the home they live in exposes life in the home and out of the home which leads to the Firm having Mitch commit adultery in the resort town on one of his trips. Avery his mentor plays a very truthful partner in the Firm when the mere truth is lies and trickery. I think last year I watched this DVD four times, I love the films identity and I believe this sort of thing does go on in the real world. An idyllic life portrayed in this film was to good to be true on a young lawyer and a small firm both cant abide in a society full of evil. The FBI, The Mob, The Firm all connected together for a great film, the film couldn't have been any better or improved. Nothing was over played or under played. Sydney Pollack had a vision with great outcome as the previous films created like Out of Africa. The nature of this film will keep Mitch one step further of The Firm who will do anything to protect its fate The Firm. |
