This DVD is from the Hammer studios from 1959 in Technucolor reincarnation. But I have to say once you have watched the B&W edition film you really dont appreciate the color edition film. Christopher Lee is the mummy in this film which you dont see him portrayed to often. If you watch the film for the first time its very close to its brothers-films The Curse of Frankenstein & Horror of Dracula. The classic screen has never beeen so greatly box-officed when it came to Hammer Studios adventures. Peter Cushing also roles off the screen along with Yvonne Furneaux. This film ISBN:085392203420 is in widescreen format, CC, NR, Region 1, 2001 renew from its 1987 renew and from its 1959 adaptation. You also get Interactive menus / scene access / theatrical trailer / languages & subtitles: English & French. DVD quality is excellent and storage case is excellent. I rated this product here on Best-price 5*****. Hammer Studios could probably go on and on with many films. Although this film Peter Cushing (John Banning "Archaeologist") and Christopher Lee (Mummy). Cushing starts digging for a lost tomb (untold treasures begins an adventure which leads to death among the searchers). Chritopher Lee also roles Kharis (High priest). From Victorian mansions to rural England countryside Mummy will become another rage scene. Standing 6-foot-3-inch-tall will make this Mummy seem like a giant. Gun shot wounds to terrible chase Mummy (Christopher Lee) melts like butter at the glance Bannings wife, Isobel (Yvonne Furneaux)... which reminds the Mummy of a past lost queen. A Mummy that displays rage to pure quietness is a great film to watch. Even those who never saw these type Hammer Studios have said they enjoy them. The curse of this film will awake a mummy that has been sleeping for a long time. One thing is locked inside the Mummy a "Queen" but when awakened by diggers will display rage his instinct inside. Although human in physical form the Mummy is monsterous deep down. How amazing when a beautiful women comes along and changes the wholeness inside the Mummy. Remember the Mummy is dangerous and deadly and seeks vengeance on those who have awakened his silence for so long. Some say this was a remake of the 32 version but after seeing this for the first time it is 59 version indeed. Ancient Egyptian God has the power which brings this Mummy alive and unstopable so it may seem. |
